- Wash and soak dal for minimum 30 minutes
- In a pressure cooker cook dal with water salt and turmeric powder. For 2 whistles.once done keep aside
- In a kadai heat ghee and oil, add cumin seeds and hing once they splutter add ginger, garlic, chopped chillies and allow them to fry nicely
- Add chopped onion and cook till soft, add chopped tomatoes and salt cover and cook
- When tomatoes are soft add all dry masalas except garam masala and cook nicely.
- Churn dal nicely to make it smooth, now add dal to the masala
- Add little water to adjust consistency
- Add garam masala, cover and cook for 4-5 minutes
- Once done switch off the flame. Garnish with coriander leaves and butter, Serve with Rice or tandoori roti.
