  1. 1 bunch mustard leaves (sarson)
  2. 1/2 bunch bathua leaves (chenopodium)
  3. 1/2 bunch chana leaves
  4. 1 cup chopped soya leaves
  5. 1 cup fenugreek leaves, chopped
  6. 2 inch ginger, chopped
  7. 2 green chilies, chopped
  8. 1-2 pinch Asafoetida
  9. ¼ teaspoon aforesaid powder (hing)
  10. As per taste salt
  11. 1 medium sized onion, finely chopped
  12. 1-2 tablespoon oil
  13. As required spices
  14. As per taste Cooked saag
  15. 1 tbsp Tempering for saag butter
  16. 1/4 coriander seeds
  17. 1/4 tbsp red chilli powder

Instructions to make to make Sarso ka Saag with Makke ki Roti

  1. Making Sarson Ka Saag
    Firstly clean and chop all the greens. then wash the greens well.
  2. In a pressure cooker or pan add all the ingredients listed under.
  3. Cover the pressure cooker and cook for 6-7 minutes or more.
  4. If cooking in a pan, then cover and let the greens cook till done. Do check occasionally.
  5. Pour the greens along with the stock in a blender,blend till smooth.
  6. Masala For Sarson Ka Saag
    In a Kadai or a pan, heat oil or ghee or butter.
  7. Add chopped garlic,whole dry red chilli, coriander and cumin seeds.
  8. Add the chopped onions and fry them till light brown, add all the masala.
  9. Add the prepared saag. Stir and simmer for a couple of minutes.
  10. Stir occasionally and add white butter and salt
  11. Tempering/rogan for saag
    In another small pan, heat ghee or butter.
  12. Add coriander seeds and red chilli powder.
  13. Pour this, over the saag.
  14. Now take makke ka aata or maize flour. Add warm water make soft dough of it.
  15. On a rolling board place silver foil and put a medium ball of dough, sprinkle some dry flour and make a roti from it.
  16. Take a tawa and cook it from both the sides.
